‘Her voice is to distinctive!’: The Masked Singer: Fans convinced that alien performer is model and singer Sophie Ellis Bextor
The Masked Singer returned to the small screen on Saturday evening.
This ITV show saw BAFTA award-winning comedian Mo Gilligan take up a chair alongside the show’s original panellists, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
The famous four took up their celebrity sleuth roles and were greeted by a competing masked robin and surreal alien, who fans instantly believed was model and singer, Sophie Ellis Bextor.
Viewers took to Twitter to voice their opinion, as one fan wrote: ‘I think Alien is Sophie Ellis Bexter! #MaskedSingerUK#maskedsinger. Crime scene is murder on the dance floor.’

Another wrote: ‘I’ve never watched The Masked Singer until three minutes ago but I’m pretty sure that Alien is Sophie Ellis Bextor.’
Alien stood our from the crowd with her metallic costume as she took centre stage on the ITV show.
Prior to her performance, the preview video clip rolled and the mystery singer dropped a series of hints including the comment: ‘All the people look like tiny models’.
Then the camera panned to a mannequin wearing a dress as the alien declared that her job in the world is ‘to spread joy love and glitter’.

Some fans thought this was a reference to her disco tracks including Take Me Home and Murder On The Dancefloor.

Another fan penned on Twitter: ‘Alien is Sophie Ellis Bexter! Murder on the dance floor reference too!’
The mystery singer stood on a podium on the futuristic set and hit the high notes in Dua Lipa’s track, Don’t Start Now.
After she concluded her song, Jonathon said he noticed a crime scene in the preview video and thought it could be The Fall actress, Gillian Anderson.

Rita Ora noticed multiple model references and guessed it could be author and model Sophie Dahl.
Fellow panellist Mo was taken by a wedding dress reference on a mannequin in the clip and presumed it could be Lily Allen, who recently tied the knot with Stranger Things actor David Harbour.
Davina amusingly thought it could be presenter Joel Dommett’s partner, Hanna Cooper.
As the masked singer exited the stage, she left one final clue, commenting: ‘I had the time of wife, I mean, life!’
