This is the shocking moment thugs fire a terrifying fusillade of fireworks at apartment blocks in Islington as residents cower in fear.

Footage shows the explosives bouncing off a high-rise building and making a loud bang last night in Pooles Park, Finsbury Park.

People can be heard panicking and shouting in the background, while an onlooker says: ‘What the hell?’

Two others are seen running around on the street below, before the person filming retreats indoors to avoid being hit.

The video was posted to Twitter, captioned: ‘Tonight in Pooles Park, N4 in the square.

‘Youths on bikes aiming fireworks at buildings, people. Arrests need to be made.

‘Patrols are doing nothing: act decisively. It’s not even bonfire night yet. 100 metres from your door.’

The Metropolitan Police responded to the clip, confirming local officers were informed.

On its website, the force states: ‘Used irresponsibly, fireworks can cause damage to property and do significant harm to people and animals.

‘Not only is there a danger from fireworks exploding, they can also pose a serious fire risk as well.

‘This is why members of the public may only use fireworks on private property, such as their back gardens, and only licensed professionals can use them in public places.’

It comes amid a rise in firework-related issues, with a separate video showing a group of teenagers letting off the pyrotechnics in Sheffield earlier this month.

Youths were also seen launching a firework at moving cars on a roundabout in Birmingham on October 17.
