Toby Anstis confirms he battled coronavirus after being ‘wiped out’ by illness

Toby Anstis has revealed he previously battled coronavirus after being ‘wiped out’ by the illness.

The Heart radio presenter, 49, took to Twitter on Wednesday where he confirmed he had COVID-19 after taking an antibody test which was positive.

He told of his ‘relief’ of finally getting an answer after falling ill earlier this year, with Toby describing it as ‘like nothing else I’ve ever had.’

The radio DJ shared the news with his 34.5k Twitter followers as he said he was ‘pretty sure’ he had suffered with COVID-19 ‘a few weeks ago.’

He wrote: ‘Just got confirmation of a “positive” antibody test result for covid-19. Was pretty sure I’d had it a few weeks ago, I was very ill for around 8 days, then took a few more to properly recover to normal fitness. It’s a relief to know.’

Toby then shared a number of exchanges with his followers, where he revealed further details about his illness.

In response to one question on how he managed to get tested, the TV personality revealed that he had ‘bought a blood test kit.’

While in another exchange, he opened up on feeling ‘wiped out’ by the virus, and says he felt ‘sure’ he had COVID at the time, despite not being diagnosed.

He said: ‘I was sure it was covid when I was wiped out in bed for days, felt like nothing else I’ve ever had.’

Toby also confirmed that he believes he was struck down earlier this year, as he told another person that he had it in ‘either in Feb or April, but glad to know I’ve definitely had it! x.’ 

At the end of January, the presenter took to Instagram where he revealed he was sick and was suffering with what he thought at the time was a ‘nasty chest infection.’

Alongside a snap of himself soaking in a bath, he wrote: ‘On anti biotics for a nasty chest infection, feeling crap, but soaking in the bath is reassuring.’

While a few days later at the beginning of February, he gave another update on his health, sharing a selfie of himself lying in bed, with the words: ‘Haven’t moved from this position in 24 hours?! This bug is bloody awful.’

In the caption, he also thanked his radio co-star for filling in for him, adding: ‘I’m getting there slowly, not had a sick day for years, I’ll be back later this week.’

At the time of writing, the official number of coronavirus cases diagnosed stands at 291,000, since Britain’s crisis began to unfold back in January. While over 40,000 people have died from the deadly virus.
