Karl, who appeared in a bathrobe with a towel wrapped around his head, revealed he’d been spending lockdown showing off his culinary skills.

He told Brooke, 33, he’d just been down to his local Charcoal Charlie’s chicken shop, which he said was packed with people on the first day of restrictions being lifted.

Speaking about the coronavirus pandemic, they admitted that while they were feeling nervous about restrictions being eased, it was important to support small businesses.

‘Every time I order chips and gravy to the house, I whisper “hero” to myself, because I’m just out there doing my bit to support the local industries. I’ll order as many chicken nuggets and chips and gravy as I need to!’ joked Brooke.

A facetious Karl told the entertainment reporter she was ‘selfless’, before revealing he couldn’t wait to indulge in some pub food and a cold beer.

And he said he was in the process of preparing a ‘Mexican fiesta’ for his Friday night dinner.

‘I’m going to do margaritas, and I went and got this pork belly that I’m going to slowly cook this afternoon, and then I’ll chop it up and put it in burritos, with sour cream and avocados and all that sort of stuff,’ he explained.

Karl said he had also crisped some bacon in the sandwich press for wife and new mum Jasmine Yarbrough, but he didn’t recommend it.

He confessed it actually turned out to be quite dangerous, because the next time he used the sandwich press ‘it kind of lit up because of all the bacon fat’.
