The Project host Tommy Little has urged fans to bet against him being Australia’s next Bachelor, saying it’s a guaranteed payday.

The comedian, 35, is the bookies’ favourite for the role as the Channel 10 dating show begins production this month – but Tommy insists they’ve got it wrong.

He told his Instagram followers on Friday afternoon to place a few dollars on him not being the Bachelor because there’s no chance of losing.

Tommy, who also hosts a Hit Network drive-time show with Carrie Bickmore, shared a screenshot of Sportsbet’s odds on him being the new Bachelor.

The odds were $4 on him being the suitor, and $1.20 against. (In the hours since uploading his post they have changed to $6.25 for yes and $1.10 for no.)

While it’s not a huge reward, Tommy said it was worth betting against him anyway because he’s 100 per cent not the Bachelor.

Fellow funnyman Nazeem Hussain replied below the post: ‘I start my gambling habit today!’

However, one commenter suggested it was all a scheme to lengthen the odds in favour of Tommy being the Bachelor.

‘Sounds like someone wants the odds of yes to drift and then cash in…’ they wrote.

Woman’s Day reported earlier this month that Channel 10 was considering Tommy for The Bachelor because he ‘ticks all the boxes’.

Despite being older than previous suitors, executives felt he was a good candidate.

‘He’s handsome, funny and knows how to work a camera,’ a source said, adding that being on the network’s payroll already was a bonus.

Tommy quietly split from his girlfriend Natalie Kyriacou recently, and he’s been spotted using dating app Tinder.
