‘I’ll be honest: sometimes I get overwhelmed and frustrated about the fire, or my injuries, or what I’ve been through. But you know what I DON’T do when I feel like crying about what I’ve been through?⁣⠀

‘I don’t say to myself ‘Get over it Turia, it happened almost a decade ago. You should be over this by now.’⁣⠀I don’t say ‘Oh here you go again, crying like an idiot.’⁣⠀

‘I say: ‘I know, mate. What you’ve been through was really bloody hard and upsetting, and you’re allowed to cry.’⁣⠀

Turia stressed the importance of embracing feelings of frustration and anger, rather than denying them, and advised her fans it helps, ‘those feelings dissipate quicker’.

She urged people, ‘please don’t judge yourself for feeling a negative emotion. Allow the emotion to happen and be kind to yourself while it does.’

Turia added: ‘Say to yourself ‘Yeah, you’re right, this is really overwhelming. It’s perfectly understandable that you feel scared about the future. That’s okay.’⁣⠀

She concluded: ‘Just know that being human means experiencing a full spectrum of emotion.’
