Victoria and David Beckham celebrate son Cruz’s 16th birthday with video montages

Victoria and David Beckham took to Instagram to share a series of throwback clips from years past as they celebrated their son Cruz’s 16th birthday on Saturday.

The couple – who are also the parents of Brooklyn, 21, Romeo, 18, and Harper, nine – unveiled a series of behind-the-scenes snaps and videos from Cruz’s life with his famous family, ranging from his toddler to teen years.

Captioning her own montage, proud mother Victoria, 46, wrote: ‘Happy Birthday!! @cruzbeckham we all love u so much xxxx We are so proud of the man you have turned into! So sweet and so kind x we love you x kisses.’

She signed off the heartwarming note from the rest of the family, adding: @davidbeckham @brooklynbeckham @romeobeckham #harperseven x.’

Set to the Jackson 5’s classic 1969 track I Want You Back, Victoria’s video showed a number of key moments in Cruz’s life, including his time learning martial arts, posing with his siblings and parents and his 2019 baptism alongside sister Harper.

Cruz was also seen posing with his famous godparents – actress and producer Eva Longoria, 45, and singing superstar Marc Anthony, 52. 

For his part, football legend David, 45, took to his own Instagram account to share a similar montage, which was set to The Rembrandts’ enduring track I’ll Be There For You, more popularly known as theme song from Friends.

Over various stages of his life, Cruz was shown fishing, boxing, jetskiing, snowboarding and enjoying time on the beach with his family.

And, as with Victoria’s video, he was also shown displaying his vocal talents as he sang for his close-knit family – though he was hilariously interrupted by an off-camera David, whose warbling proved to be less than tuneful.

Penning his own tribute, sportsman David wrote: ‘Happy 16th Birthday to my little man… Have the most amazing day, dad is so proud of you ❤️ love you always and forever ❤️ sorry about the singing.’

Following Victoria’s lead, the former Manchester United ace also signed out with the names of his wife and children, though he also tagged the official Friends account.

It’s been quite the celebratory weekend for David, as on Friday he paid tribute to his younger sister Joanne on her 38th birthday with two adorable childhood throwback snaps of the pair on Instagram. 

The sports legend first posted a sweet snap of the pair taken sometime in the ’80s, showing him and Joanne as youngsters while sat on a tricycle, to the photo-sharing platform on Friday. 

In the shot, an impossibly cute David wore a pair of blue shorts and knee-high white football socks for the cute shot.

David, who has become known for his many hairstyles over the years, notably rocked a blond bowl cut as he cuddled up to his sister on the trike.

Meanwhile, Joanne looked adorable in pink dungarees and white short-sleeved blouse as she held onto the tricycle’s handlebars.

Writing a sweet tribute to his younger sister, David wrote: ‘Happy Birthday sis… Hope you have the most amazing birthday because u deserve it we love you so much’ (sic).

Not content with sharing just one photo of them, the sports star also took to his Instagram Story to post another shot of them as children.

In the second photo from yesteryear, David could be seen smirking at the camera as Joanne wrapped her arms around his neck while standing on a patterned couch.

The former England captain adorned the post with gifs of Winnie the Pooh, a birthday cake and another that read, ‘Happy B-day’ – before simply writing ‘Love you Jo Jo’ across the bottom.

Joanne, who welcomed her first child Peggy in 2017, is seven years younger than David. Despite the age gap, they have always had a close sibling bond. The footballer also has an older sister named Lynne, 49.

David’s social media tribute to his sister comes after he shared a tender moment with daughter Harper on Instagram on Thursday.

The footballer wore a beanie and a vest top as his youngest child laid her head on his chest and he shared the caption: ‘Nothing better than cuddle time’.  

In another display of family affection last week, David gushed over wife Victoria as he and Brooklyn celebrated her AW 2021 collection.

Taking to Instagram, the sports star reposted a black-and-white shot shared to the 46-year-old former Spice Girl’s social media. 

David penned: ‘We’re all so proud of you @victoriabeckham. You’ve worked so hard to make this collection special’ followed by a heart emoji. 

The couple were recently pictured looking loved-up as they enjoyed a dinner date at Carbone restaurant in Miami, Florida, on Thursday.

The pair jetted out to the hotspot over Christmas with their children for David’s business surrounding his football club and to celebrate the New Year. 

The former footballer, who owns Inter Miami CF, travelled to Miami to kick off training with the club ahead of the new Major League Soccer season.

The power couple are said to have embarked on the journey on Christmas Day, crossing the Atlantic in the safety of a private jet amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
