Vin Diesel is getting in the ring with Universal Pictures, Mattel Films and a bunch of robots for an adaptation of the Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots game.
Diesel, 53, has signed on to star in and produce a Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots movie through his One Race Films company, according to a press release.
No director is in place yet, though Ryan Engel (Rampage) wrote the screenplay, which follows, ‘a father and son who form an unlikely bond with an advanced war machine.’

The Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots game was first launched in 1966, and has been a staple in pop culture ever since.
The game was inspired by an arcade boxing game which pitted Red Rocker against Blue Bomber in a fight to knock his rival’s block off.
The game’s, ‘bright and bold gameplay’ has appeared in films, television shows and commercials over the past five decades.

Diesel will produce with his One Race Films partner Samantha Vincent, with Kevin McKeon leading the project for Mattel Films.

Diesel is coming off Sony Pictures’ Bloodshot and he returns as Dominic Toretto in F9, the highly-anticipated ninth installment of Universal’s Fast & Furious franchise.
He will close out the high-octane franchise with the release of Fast & Furious 10 and Fast & Furious 11, though no release dates are planned yet.
The actor will also return as Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and he also has a role in Avatar 2, arriving next December.
