He applied for SAS Australia to step out from the shadow of his famous cricketer father, Shane Warne.

And on Monday, 21-year-old Jackson Warne revealed how his dad, 51, actually tried to stop him from accepting a role on the military-style show.

Poker player Jackson told TV Week that his father became increasingly concerned for him after watching the UK version of the series.

He applied for SAS Australia to step out from the shadow of his famous father, Shane Warne. And on Monday, 21-year-old Jackson Warne (pictured) revealed his father 51, actually tried to stop him from appearing on the military-style show 

‘He was like, “No, you hate cold water, you can’t go in the cold water”, “No, I’m not letting you jump out of helicopters”,’ Jackson recalled. 

‘But when he saw how much I really wanted to do it and how much training I put in, he was like “OK”,’ he continued.

Shane has clearly changed his tune since then, as it appears the ‘proud dad’ has taken a liking to watching one of his three children on national TV.

‘He’s messaging me every two or three hours saying, “Love you. Proud of you. Love you”,’ Jackson told the publication.

Shane has also been very active on his son’s social media since SAS Australia debuted nationwide on October 19.

He has commented on every one of Jackson’s posts about SAS Australia on Instagram with love heart emojis.

‘OMG!!!! So excited to watch you challenge yourself and so proud of you,’ Shane commented under one of Jackson’s posts, with another reading: ‘So proud of you.’

 

‘Pumped to watch ! Proud dad,’ a third read.

‘I’m so glad everyone in Australia is seeing what I see everyday and what a wonderful young man you are !!! Proud of you and love ya lots,’ Shane said in his most recent comment under Jackson’s Instagram post on October 28. 

His father’s support comes as Jackson revealed he wanted to appear on the grueling TV show to step out from his dad’s shadow.

SAS Australia continues on Monday from 7:30pm on Channel Seven
