An ex-junkie has revealed the earth shattering realisation her husband had been secretly abusing drugs for their entire relationship – and the signs she missed.

The mother-of-two said her husband, who she met in rehab, would often send her to bed so he could have alone time, had bloodshot eyes ‘from allergies’, craved sweets and could never save cash because he loved ‘collecting’.

She now realises the missing money, bloodshot eyes and nights alone were all huge red flags with her partner spending their entire nine-year relationship hiding his ongoing dependency on drugs.

The man’s intricate lie began to unravel when his wife found a prescription bottle with ‘pot crumbs’ in the bottom as she cleaned her kitchen while her toddlers slept.

‘Pot’s not a big deal for most people. For there to be drugs in the house of two recovering drug addicts was a BIG deal,’ she said.

She immediately asked her husband if it was his – and he said no so she believed him.

But weeks later her trust in her now ex-husband began to deteriorate further.

She realised she had been lied to.

‘It should have occurred to me that if I hadn’t brought the drugs into my house, then the next logical choice would have been the other drug addict who lived there,’ she admitted.

The mum finally caught him out when she came home and realised his ute was unlocked.

Inside it reeked of pot. She demanded how long he had been using and he admitted he had never stopped.

She demanded he get rid of all of the drugs in the house but was shocked when he pulled prescription bottled, edible wrappers and a pipe from above a kitchen cupboard.

She then watched as he took more from a shelf behind the dishes and from the inside of the grill.

But what happened next left her furious.

‘He pulled more out from inside one of our children’s toy trucks they no longer played with.’

The couple eventually separated after it became apparent he could not stop his habit.
