William played Captain Kirk in Star Trek from 1966 to 1969 and later reprised the role in several films.

The actor recalled the interracial kiss he had with co-star Nichelle Nichols on the series, mentioning that a TV station in the Deep South refused to air it at the time.

William said: ‘I was not unaware of the implications. Indeed a station in the Deep South didn’t play that episode. It was important and I was gratified to be part of that. I don’t understand any of this racism or antisemitism. It shocks me. We’re all basically the same.’

Along with hosting The UnXplained, the star has recently made appearances in shows including The Big Bang Theory and Private Eyes.
