A mother-of-three has told how she managed to bag a £30 haul of food shopping for just £3.09 – using an anti-waste food app.
Alice Griffiths, 25, from Southport, explained how she uses the food waste-fighting app Too Good To Go to get a ‘Magic Box’ from Morrisons, which is full of perfectly good food that would otherwise be thrown away.
‘I decided to get the Morrisons box as I was down to my last £5 before payday and I knew that at the least I would get enough vegetables for soup and so on for us to last a couple of days,’ the mum-of-three said, speaking to money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk
‘This was my fourth box, and I would say this one was definitely worth it! It had enough meals to feed me and my husband for the next seven days.

Alice says all of her friends and family know she loves finding bargains and shopping around for the best deals.
‘I’m surprised they’re not sick of me talking about these Morrisons boxes,’ she said. ‘In my opinion, they’re a game-changer and more shops should do it.
‘This Morrisons box had a family size chicken pie, two microwave carbonaras, mushrooms, cheesy chicken breasts, bacon, cook in the bag chicken, lettuce, microwave mash, vegetable medley, sausages and a microwave fish and chips.
‘If I paid full price for all of that I reckon it would have cost around £25 to £30.’

The savvy mother’s top tips to snap up a box are to ‘be quick’ and to refresh the page until it becomes available.
‘The new boxes get released each evening around 18:15 on the Too Good To Go app and you have to keep refreshing the page until it says available,’ she explained. ‘They sell out so fast.’
‘In the past, I’ve had other boxes full of veggies, one with doughnuts, biscuits and bread and one that included loads of cherries that we made jam with.’
As well as snapping up Morrisons boxes for just £3.09 and cutting down on food waste, Alice also has other tips for saving cash on food.
‘My top tip is to stock the freezer up – the freezer is my best friend at the moment!’ she added.

‘Use the reduced sections in supermarkets and apps like Too Good to Go. Shopping smart means you can save money and means you won’t have to go out to shops or supermarkets that often.
‘I tend to prep veg and separate food like bread into separate portions and freeze them so they don’t go off and they’re ready to go as soon as we want them.’
