Zac, who plays a competitive gold fossicker in the movie, sat on the ground in the middle of a dusty plane while shading himself beneath a makeshift tent.

Production was halted at the end of November, when Adelaide was declared a coronavirus hotspot, but resumed once the lockdown was lifted.

According to Inside Film, Zac took over the lead role from Sam Worthington, who was originally slated to star in the movie.

Gold tells the story of two drifters who stumble across the biggest gold nugget ever found while exploring the outback.

The film will also feature Australian actors Susie Porter and Anthony Hayes.

Anthony, who is directing the film, recently said of Zac’s casting: ‘To have Zac Efron as my main man on this film is an absolute gift, and to see what he is creating already is like nothing we’ve seen from him before.

‘I can’t wait to deliver this bold, visceral and cinematic film to audiences all around the world.’
