Zach Braff pays tribute to close friend Nick Cordero following his passing

Actor Zach Braff is in mourning, with his close friend Nick Cordero passing away on Sunday, as he shared an emotional tribute.

The 45-year-old actor shared a black and white photo of Cordero and his wife, Amanda Kloots, on his Instagram Sunday evening, along with a heartfelt message.

His girlfriend, Florence Pugh, also shared a video of Cordero performing, with a heartfelt message of her own, while Braff shared several photos on his Instagram story.

‘Nick Cordero passed at 11:40am today with his wife and mother by his side,’ Braff began.

‘I have honestly never known a kinder person. But Covid doesn’t care about the purity of your soul, or the goodness in your heart,’ he added.

‘The last thing he ever texted me was to look out for his wife and one year old son, Elvis. I promise the world they will never want for anything,’ Braff promised.

‘I feel so incredibly grateful I got to have Nick Cordero enter my life. Rest In Peace. Rest in Power,’ Braff concluded.

Braff revealed in a late-April interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Kloots and their one-year-old son Elvis was staying in his guest house. 

‘I’m very close to this because one of my best friends in the world, Nick Cordero, and his wife and baby have been living in my guest house for seven months as they were house-shopping in L.A. to make the move out here,’ he revealed in the interview.

‘Nick’s a big Broadway star and Amanda, his wife, is a trainer and they fell in love with L.A.,’ adding that Cordero got COVID-19 when they went home to ‘pack up their things.’

He had been hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for over 90 days before he passed away on Sunday afternoon. 

Pugh, who has been dating Braff since April 2019, also took to Instagram to share a video of Cordero performing, along with an endearing message.

‘Nick Cordero. We lost one of the great ones today. My friend Nick Cordero passed this morning, holding hands with all his loved ones,’ Pugh began.

‘Him and his wife @amandakloots have been fighting extremely hard for 90 days. He caught COVID 19 in March and has been hospitalised ever since despite having no pre-existing health conditions,’ she added.

The Midsommar actress added the video she shared was taken in April 2019, adding he was ‘commanding the entire audience so intensely, you could have heard a pin drop.’

She added it was ‘shocking and devastating’ to see Cordero ‘come down as hard as he did,’ before telling fans what they can do to help as COVID-19 keeps spreading.   

‘Help the world by continuing to take this virus seriously. Wear your mask, respect others’ space, clean your hands and please be safe. This is far from over,’ she added.

‘Nick, we love you to infinity and beyond. Rest In Peace you beautiful, beautiful man,’ Pugh concluded.
