Zara McDermott wows in a bright yellow bikini… after apologising for saying she’d ‘let herself go’

Zara McDermott displayed her toned frame in a bikini as she holidayed in Marbella on Wednesday, after apologising for saying she had ‘let herself go’ on her trip.

The Made In Chelsea star, 23, faced a social media backlash on Tuesday after making the comment about her figure, and henceforth edited a caption on the snap posted to her fitness page, A Day With Zara.

But a day later, the TV personality appeared keen to move on from the drama as she shared a series of snaps of herself looking sensational in a yellow bikini, which clung to her enviable physique as she enjoyed an outdoor shower.

The erstwhile Love Island star showed off her deep tan and rippling abs as she posed for the camera in her barely-there ensemble of choice.

With her lustrous brunette tresses falling beyond her shoulders in damp waves, she gave her Instagram followers a view of her bikini from all angles as she struck a series of sultry poses in the scorching Spanish sunshine.

Opting to keep things simple. she captioned the images ‘lemon drizzle’, before sharing a link fashion brand Oh Polly’s Instagram account.

The star’s social media post comes after she sparked furore on social media with the caption on her bikini-clad snap.

Her followers were quick to question her choice of words in the original caption of her post, with one follower writing: ‘You still have washboard flat stomach…’ (sic)

Zara admitted she changed the post’s accompanying caption after social media users highlighted the issue of ‘suggesting relaxing on holiday is something negative’.

The media personality’s new message read: ‘Me this morning. I’ve indulged in loads of amazing food this holiday and I’m excited to get home and get cooking again❤️.’ (sic)

Insisting she didn’t intend on offending anyone, the Love Island 2018 contestant added: ‘I’ve changed the caption.

‘The original caption said ”me this morning” and said that in the afternoons and evenings I’ve been feeling super bloated. I just wanted to make people realise it’s okay to be bloated. Wasn’t my intention to upset anyone. I apologise x.

‘can never win anymore. It’s really upsetting and also demotivating ☹️ all I have ever promoted is a healthy balanced diet and exercise 3-4 times a week.’ (sic)

‘Surely you see why the words ‘I’ve let myself go’ wasn’t the best phrase to use though xx’, a disappointed follower wrote.

'You still have washboard flat stomach!' The influencer was later forced to apologise to her fans as she received backlash for originally saying she's 'let herself go' on holiday

Another explained: ‘I feel like you don’t have a negative intention in writing this, however please be careful with your wording. ‘Letting yourself go, whilst on holiday’ sounds like you’re suggesting that relaxing and enjoying yourself on holiday is something negative and needs to be fixed.

‘You’re very slim and very young, a week or even 5 weeks with a relaxed approach on holiday is not something that needs to be dramatically compensated for afterwards’. (sic)

A third wrote: ‘You haven’t really ‘let yourself go’ you still have washboard flat stomach… I’ve let myself go too. I don’t look like you though.’ (sic)

Others urged Zara to ‘not feel guilty’, claimed she can ‘post whatever she likes’ and said she ‘deserves to enjoy her holiday’.

They explained: ‘You look amazing, I’m so envious of your figure/fitness you can post whatever you like whenever you like.

‘The people who don’t ‘agree’ can unfollow yet they still feel the need to tell you what to do, that’s they’re insecurity not yours…. never apologise for being you.

‘Yeah Zara you look like you’ve totallyyyyy let yourself go!!! #goals ❤️

‘You look amazing and you give me motivation every day! You deserve to enjoy your holiday you have worked so hard.

‘You really have not let yourself go, you look incredible!! Don’t feel guilty about your diet/exercise regime at all ❤️holidays are for relaxing and having a good time nobody sticks to a perfect regime 100% of the time, life is to be enjoyed!!!.

‘you look amazing! Personally I don’t think there was any need to change your post- we all know what ‘letting yourself go’ on holiday means- we all do it! You shouldn’t be crucified for posting a well known saying?!

‘Seems like you can’t do right for doing wrong in some people’s eyes- if you’re being quite strict with your diet & exercise people aren’t happy & if you relax the diet & exercise they’re still not happy!’ (sic)

Earlier this week, the reality star lashed out at skinny-shamers who criticised her weight loss, while her boyfriend Sam Thompson echoed her woes.

Prior to her trip, the former government advisor has been documenting her health and fitness journey in forensic detail and revealed a bikini-clad image had garnered widespread criticism that left her ‘sad and confused’.

After she defiantly reposted the controversial picture, her Made In Chelsea star boyfriend, 27, hit out at her critics in a foul-mouthed rant as he admitted to being ‘f**ked off’ by the negativity.
