She spent much of the past few weeks urging her 6.4 million Instagram followers to vote ahead of Tuesday election day.
But Zooey Deschanel took a break from the stresses of watching vote returns come in on Thursday as she spent time outdoors with her two children, Elsie, five, and Charlie, three.
The 40-year-old 500 Days Of Summer star brought the children and her assistant along to the massive Descanso Gardens botanical garden in LA County’s La Cañada Flintridge.

Zooey was dressed for comfort in a pair of dark blue overalls, which she wore over a black blouse with puffy sleeves.
She helped to cut down on her sun exposure with a floppy black hat and a pair of browline sunglasses.
The 5ft6in actress wore a simple pair of black sneakers and had a stylish brown hip sack with black and white strips strapped around her waist.
Charlie rocked a dark blue dinosaur T-shirt with green pants, while Elsie looked cute in a multicolored dress.

Zooey and her children all wore masks while out to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Thursday saw more than 117,000 new coronavirus cases reported, the highest single day tally since the start of the pandemic.
Missing out on Zooey’s family day was her boyfriend Jonathan Scott, 42, one of the Property Brothers.

Jonathan revealed on his brother Drew Scott’s podcast At Home With Linda And Drew Scott that much of the Carpool Karaoke segment had be significantly edited because he was ‘flirting so hard’ with the All The Real Girls star.
Drew inquired of Zooey: ‘When you first saw him on Carpool Karaoke — I want to know from your end — did you know he was flirting with you?’
‘Yes, yes…,’ she replied. ‘You were being very gentlemanly. I actually asked my publicist, who is also one of my best friends, “Do you think he was flirting?” And she was like, “Oh, yes.”‘

But Jonathan’s brother could tell that sparks were flying between the two as soon as he saw the footage.
‘When we saw the first cut [of the episode] from Corden’s gang there, I looked at it and was like yeah, she’s definitely flirting with Jonathan,’ he said.
The sibling-themed episode featured the Property Brothers, as well as Zooey and her older sister, the Bones star Emily Deschanel.
