Anna Paquin tweets she had not heard about the True Blood reboot but insists she’s ‘not mad’ about it… after it was revealed the show is in early stages of development at HBO

Anna Paquin, the actress famous for playing telepathic fairy waitress Sookie Stackhouse on HBO’s vampire soap True Blood, has commented on the news about the show being rebooted, as seen in a duo of tweets on Wednesday.

The Oscar winner, 38, took to the social media platform first to say ‘Well, this is the first I’m hearing about this’ in response to an article from the Hollywood Reporter announcing the reboot at HBO Max.

A bit later, the X-Men star tweeted again to specify that she was ‘Not mad, just answering the question that has inundated my feed. xo’

Paquin’s comments come after it was announced that a reboot of the supernatural series is in the early stages of development at HBO, according to Variety.

True Blood originally ran for seven seasons from 2008 to 2014, starring Paquin, her husband Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgård and Joe Manganiello among others.

As of now none of the original cast is attached to make a return.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Jami O’Brien are set to write the script. They will also executive produce along with original series creator and showrunner Alan Ball.

Aguirre-Sacasa is known for playing with dark themes, as the man behind the Archie Comics adaptation Riverdale.

In charge: O’Brien recently created, executive produced and served as showrunner on the AMC series NOS4A2, based on a Joe Hill novel of the same name. She's seen in 2019 above

Additionally, he’s worked on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Katy Keene, Supergirl, and Glee. 

Aguirre-Sacasa is teaming up with HBO on another supernatural drama called The Shelley Society, which is set for the streaming service HBO Max.

O’Brien created, executive produced and served as showrunner on the AMC series NOS4A2, based on a Joe Hill novel of the same name.

Her other credits include Fear the Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels, and Da Vinci’s Demons. 

O’Brien and Aguirre-Sacasa both worked on the HBO series Big Love at the same time in 2011.

The original True Blood – based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries novel series by Charlaine Harris – took place in a world where vampires and humans were able to co-exist because of the invention of a synthetic blood. 

The series followed the adventures of telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Paquin), who encounters werewolves, fairies, witches and more through the series.
