‘Mum would have two black eyes’: Bachelor in Paradise star Ciarran Stott opens up about his childhood experience of domestic abuse
Bachelor in Paradise star Ciarran Stott has copped plenty of backlash since appearing on the Channel 10 dating show.
But the 26-year-old has revealed that there is a lot the public don’t know about him.
In a candid interview with Mamamia, the reality star claimed that his mother’s boyfriends were abusive when he was growing up, but he was ‘just a kid’ and there was nothing he could do to help her.

Before moving to Australia with his father at the age of 12, Ciarran grew up in England and would often spend weekends with his grandmother.
On Sundays, he would be dropped off at his mother’s house and she would refuse to come to the door to greet him because of the bruises on her face.
‘I’d just have to say goodbye to my grandma and go in,’ he said.
‘And I’d see my mum’s got two black eyes or a fat lip, and there would be an excuse straight away from the partner she was with at the time.’

He went on to say that it ‘kept happening’ and he felt useless because he was ‘just a kid’ at the time.
Ciarran’s confession comes after announced a charity boxing match with his Bachelor in Paradise rival Matt Whyatt to raise money for domestic violence victims and men’s mental health.
On Sunday, he shared a promotional poster to Instagram teasing the event.

‘I get to go toe-to-toe in the ring. It’s nothing personal. It’s me or you. And it’s definitely not going to be me. Not in front of all these people,’ he wrote.
‘Let’s make the best out of a bad situation. Thank you to @teamellisboxing for giving us this opportunity to raise money and settle our differences.’
