Bizarre footage shows the moment a man in a cowboy hat lassoes a tiger running loose on the streets.

It was filmed in San Pedro Tlaquepaque in the western Mexican state of Jalisco. 

The clip shows three men chasing a tiger which is running along the pavement. One has a lasso and another man is carrying a folding chair.

A van pulls up on the pavement and forces the tiger to turn around.  

The person filming gasps in shock as one man in a cowboy hat swirls a lasso above his head before appearing to loop it around the tiger’s neck first time.  

They asked for help from the Tlajomulco de Zúñiga Wildlife Rescue Unit and which went to La Duraznera neighbourhood but tiger, which reportedly escaped from a private home, was not found, according to El Informador

The firefighters from San Pedro Tlaquepaque were also called and there were no reports of any injuries. 

A second video shows the tiger continuing to run down the pavement with the three men running after it.  

The incident happened last Tuesday on the road to Chapala at the intersection with Las Rosas avenue. 

The clip was shared on Facebook by Umberto JF where it received 1.4 million views. 

It is unclear what happened to the tiger after he was captured by the lasso.
