Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon is barely recognisable in a throwback video shared to mark 20 YEARS since she joined the soap
Coronation Street celebrated Samia Longchambon’s 20 years on the soap this week with a sweet throwback video that showed her first ever scene.
The actress, 37, has played Maria Connor since 2000 and was left blushing at the resurfaced clip shared on Thursday.
The video showed Samia alongside actor Alan Halsall who played her love interest, Tyrone, on the ITV1 show.

The soap’s Instagram shared the caption: ‘We’ve been celebrating 20 years of Maria Connor this week, so let’s take a look back to 2000 and @samia_longchambon’s first ever scene!’
A blushing Samia then shared the comment: ‘Wow… hiding behind a cushion watching this’
In the scene, Maria meets Tyrone Dobbs and Jack Duckworth for the first time.
She worked at the kennels her father owned, where Jack and Tyrone took the stray greyhound Monica they had found a year earlier.

They shared: ‘We’ve been celebrating 20 years of Maria Connor this week, so let’s take a look back to 2000 and @samia_longchambon’s first ever scene!’
An equally as young Tyrone bonds with Maria over their love of dogs and speaking to animals.
Both Maria and Tyrone were teenagers in the sweet scene and eventually their characters went on to date.
Fans took to the comment section to share their disbelief at how young the duo look.
One said: ‘OMG they are so young!’

Meanwhile, Samia recently revealed that lockdown’s slower pace of life has helped to curb her anxiety.
In a candid interview, the actress also let slip that the soap’s stars have two WhatsApp group – one for the women and one for men, which is supposedly ‘a bit rude’.

Since the long-running ITV soap stopped filming due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the show’s stars have been using the app to stay in touch.
The female actors have one WhatsApp group, while the men have another.
Samia sweetly said that working on Coronation Street is like having an extended family.
She told The Sun: ‘The boys have their own group. Theirs is all a bit rude. The guys all send each other naughty things and we don’t want to see what they are doing.’

While the mother-of-two has previously struggled with ‘all-consuming’ panic attacks, she says that the lockdown period has helped her anxiety.
She admitted: ‘I’ve found it’s really eased while being on lockdown. I’ve had social anxiety most of my life which has been very challenging.
‘I hope that by talking about it I might be able to assure other people that it’s normal too, and that it’s something you can deal with.’
Samia lives near Manchester with daughter Freya, 10, whom she shares with ex-husband Matthew Smith, son Yves, four, and her husband, Dancing On Ice skating professional Sylvain, 39.
