The London-based firm, which counts Oprah Winfrey among its fans, sells knitting and crochet kits that include needles, yarn and patterns ranging from £12.50 to £140.

Stitch & Story’s products are also sold in department stores such as Liberty, Fenwick and Anthropologie and it has been championed as a small business export ambassador by the Government.

Retailers, including John Lewis and The Works, have all reported an uptick in arts and crafts and haberdashery sales in recent weeks.

Lam said: ‘Knitting is appealing to all ages and there’s also the social media side too – a lot of people are knitting and then sharing it online.’

She added: ‘There’s only so much Netflix you can watch.’
