‘How did that get past quality control?’ Christmas shopper spots a spelling mistake on a packet of Bargain Buys gift tags – but other customers can’t work out what’s wrong

  • Vickie Hurles, from South Lanarkshire, Scotland, took to Facebook to share error
  • She wrote: ‘Make sure when buying your Xmas tags that the grammar is correct’
  • Social media users couldn’t believe the mistake was printed on the tags
  • Others couldn’t spot the error and didn’t know what was wrong

An eagle-eyed shopper spotted a spelling mistake on festive gift tags while shopping in Bargain Buys.

Vickie Hurles, from South Lanarkshire, Scotland, took to Facebook to share a picture of the find with the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Group.

She wrote: ‘Make sure when buying your Xmas tags that the grammar is correct, unlike these from bargain buys… Santa says no peaking.’

Social media users were left in stitches over the error – but others admitted they didn’t see what’s wrong.

The £1 pack of 20 foil tags was emblazoned with the slogan ‘no peaking’ – which social media users were quick to point out had a very different meaning to the intended ‘no peeking’.

Ms Hurles was swamped with responses as one user wrote: ‘Blooming ‘ek!! I’ve put them on the presents!’

Another added: ‘How did these pass quality control?’ And a third commented: ‘I got these luckily my kids can’t read!’

But there were swathes of others who could not work out the festive faux pas.

‘What’s wrong with no peaking. I don’t get it,’ one said.

One added ‘that is the right spelling…’ before another questioned: ‘What is it supposed to say??’

FEMAIL has contacted PoundStretcher, which runs Bargain Buys, for comment about the product which is still available online.
