Father, 37, admits manslaughter of his 15-year-old son who died as result of brain injury he suffered as a baby

A 37-year-old father has admitted the manslaughter of his teenage son who died as a result of injuries he allegedly suffered as a baby.

John Doak, of Delgate Avenue, Spalding, Lincolnshire, admitted the charge at Chelmsford Crown Court, a court official said on Friday.

Jack Doak Mitchell died in 2016 at the age of 15.

A post-mortem examination found that Jack died from a pulmonary infection and pneumonia having suffered brain injuries as a baby.

Doak, who denies murder and had been facing a trial, will be sentenced for manslaughter at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday.
