Gal Gadot topples a speeding truck in the new teaser for Wonder Woman 1984

Gal Gadot shows off her super strength by toppling a speeding truck in the new teaser for Wonder Woman 1984

Gal Gadot shows off her super-human strength and pushes apart to massive trucks while they’re speeding down a desert road in the newest teaser trailer for her upcoming film Wonder Woman 1984.

The new clip is light on plot but has plenty of highlights of the 35-year-old Israeli actress in action as Wonder Woman.

The teaser made its debut on Sunday during a virtual edition of the MTV Movie & TV Awards that ignored movies released in the past year and instead awarded random older films and television shows.

Action packed: Gal Gadot shows off her super-human strength and pushes apart to massive trucks while they’re speeding down a desert road in the newest teaser trailer for her upcoming film Wonder Woman 1984, released Sunday

The desert battle, which is intercut with other fights, shows Diana Prince in her red and gold breastplate and her blue skirt as she shoves trucks apart that seem to be trying to crush her.

The showdown culminates with one truck flipping dramatically into the air, while Diana’s love interest Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) watches in surprise from the top of another vehicle.

Pine was revealed to be returning to this new film as the same character he played in the first Wonder Woman film, though so far it hasn’t been explained how he’s alive after presumably dying at the end of that movie, or how he appears to be the same age despite decades having passed.

The new teaser opens with Connie Nielsen’s character Queen Hippolyta soothingly intoning in voiceover, ‘One day, you’ll become all that you dream of,’ presumably said to Diana.

The setting is Washington, D.C., where Diana strolls toward the Lincoln Memorial with Steve by her side.

‘This world is not yet ready for all that you will do,’ Hippolyta continues as Kristen Wiig’s character Barbara Ann Minerva is first seen.

A young Diana is also seen racing with other Amazonians at her side.

‘You will become a legend,’ she adds as Diana uses her lasso to grab onto an airplane flying overhead and rockets into the sky.

Her desert battle is intercut with footage of Wonder Woman using her lasso in what looks like a governmental building while fighting a group of men.

The clip ends with a touching moment as Diana and Steve share glances from the inside of an aircraft cockpit while in flight.

Last month, Warner Bros. announced that Wonder Woman 1984 would still be released in theaters on Christmas day, following multiple pushbacks, but subscribers of its streaming service HBO Max would also be able to watch the film at no extra charge the same day.

The move is a departure from the usual supremacy that theaters have in the first few weeks of a film’s release.

The move distinguishes itself from Disney’s strategy earlier this year to force Disney+ subscribers to pay an additional $30 to rent its live-action Mulan remake.
