I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is a ratings SMASH for Channel 10 – starting the year with more than one million viewers

The season premiere of Channel 10’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! drew more than one million viewers Sunday night.

This is a slight jump in viewers compared to last year’s season, reports TV Tonight.

About 1,000,300 people tuned into the first episode, compared to 980,000 in 2020.

TEAM 2021: The celebrities in Season 7 of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here have made quite the impact on fans, with more than a million eagle-eyed viewers tuned in on Sunday night’s premiere episode

The new season was pre-recorded for the first time this year, and production was also relocated from South Africa to northern NSW due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Several stars entered the jungle camp on Sunday, including Gold Logie winner Grant Denyer, comedian Ash Williams and retired AFL player Travis Varcoe 

Singer-songwriter Paulini Curuenavuli made her debut as well, after finding fame on Australian Idol back in 2003.

Former Bachelor in Paradise star Abbie Chatfield, The Block’s Jess Eva and The Voice alum Jack Vidgen also dusted off their Akubra hats. 

Despite only being one episode in, I’m a Celebrity fans are convinced they know which star will be entering the jungle on Monday.

After the season premiere, Channel 10 teased viewers with a series of clues as to who will be arriving next.

Many are speculating the next celebrity heading into the jungle will be Australian rules legend Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico.

‘I think people see me as a bit of a character, easy to get along with,’ the mystery male camper said. 

‘I love conversation, I love talking. I’m a lover, I’m not a fighter. If I fail, well, I fail, but I don’t fail.’

Despite the celebrity’s face being blurred, one fan quickly tweeted: ‘So that’s Dipper tomorrow – Go @HawthornFC #ImACelebrityAU’.

‘Dipper…that wasn’t hard #ImACelebrityAU,’ another agreed. ‘Its Dipper. He is going to make this show so funny,’ a third wrote.

‘It’s Robert DiPierdomenico (Dipper) saw his face straight away last night when it was shown on #imacelebrityau,’ a fourth viewer commented.

In October, Daily Mail Australia first reported that the footy legend was set to appear on the upcoming season of I’m a Celebrity.

The 62-year-old retired Australian rules footballer represented Hawthorn between 1975 and 1991.
