He’s been enjoying spending more time with his family amid the coronavirus lockdown.

And James Corden was every inch the doting dad as he spent quality time with his eldest daughter Carey, five, in Brentwood, California on Thursday.

The Late Late Show host, 41, appeared to be having the best time with his little girl as he treated her to ice cream before pulling her in for a warm hug.

The TV star cut a casual figure for their outing, dressing down in a black T-shirt, navy patterned shorts and white trainers.

He shielded his eyes with a pair of dark shades and in place of a face mask, covered his mouth and nose with a patterned bandanna.

Meanwhile, little Carey looked adorable in a leaf patterned T-shirt, striped shorts and gold sandals.

The father and daughter duo seemed content as they held hands and chatted away while walking down the street.

James shares his daughter with his television producer partner, Julia Carey, who he married in 2012 at Babington House, a grand 18th century Georgian manor in Somerset.

The couple share three young children altogether, Max, nine, Carey and their two-year old toddler Charlotte.

Last month, James hit TV show  Gavin and Stacey became the latest series to be dragged into a race row as viewers demand its removal from TV schedules.

Critics are calling for the popular comedy, written by Corden and Ruth Jones, to be pulled in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The main bone of contention stems from characters described in the show as ‘Chinese Alan’ and ‘Seth, the black fella’.

Following the news that fellow BBC show Little Britain has been removed from streaming services BBC iPlayer, BritBox and Netflix for its depiction of blackface characters, social media users have taken to Twitter to call for Gavin and Stacey to be axed too.

One user tweeted James Corden directly and asked: ‘Wondering why none of your characters in #gavinandstacey were played by BAME actors?

‘I can only recall one black character – threesome man with Pete and Dawn in one ep.

‘His race was the subject of several gags. Not cool James!’

Referencing the other programmes that have already been pulled, one user simply wrote: ‘Gavin and Stacey next please…’

But others were quick to defend the show with one social media user commenting: ‘gavin and stacey ?????? now you’ve crossed the line [sic].’

While another added: ‘If Gavin and Stacey gets axed I’m done.’

A representative for the BBC told MailOnline when approached for comment that there are no plans to remove Gavin and Stacey episodes from iPlayer, stating: ‘These changes only affect Little Britain.’
