New gig negotiations: John Mayer, 43, is nearing a deal to host a show for Paramount+ inspired by the long-running British show – Later… With Jools Holland

The ‘Later’ version with John Mayer would feature performance segments, interviews with musicians, artists and other cultural figures, all in a setting designed to look like an after-hours club for musicians, according to sources.

The plan being discussed calls for it to run once a week on Paramount+ (formally CBS All Access), which is ViacomCBS’s streaming service that was relaunched in March following the 2019 re-merger of CBS and Viacom.

There’s also talk about having specials air periodically on CBS that would derive from the show’s musical performances and tie-ins with the Grammy Awards, which are aired on the network.
