A little slice of Australia! Kate Beckinsale poses with a kangaroo at a petting zoo in Canada

Kate Beckinsale couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she visited a petting zoo in Canada on Monday.

The English actress, 47, shared a series of photos to Instagram while posing next to kangaroos and wallabies, which are native to Australia.

In one picture, Kate stretched herself out on the ground alongside a kangaroo, and wrote: ‘We just get each other idk.’

The Underworld star dressed casually in black jeans and a white shirt, and also wore a black face mask.

Kate also posted photos and a video of herself feeding wallabies.

‘Not sure when I’ve been more in love,’ she wrote in the caption.

It comes after Kate divided opinion among fans earlier this month by posing with kangaroos and other Australian wildlife inside a house in Canada.

She shared several videos to Instagram over the Easter long weekend of herself with a kangaroo, wallaby and sugar glider.

In one clip, a small kangaroo hopped across the wooden floor wearing a nappy.

In another video, Kate was seen cuddling up to a grey wallaby on a couch.

The Pearl Harbor star also gazed inquisitively at a sugar glider which sat in the palm of her hand.

Generally, Canadians are allowed to keep sugar gliders and wallabies as pets. The rules surrounding kangaroo ownership vary between provinces.

While the animals looked well-cared for, a number of Kate’s fans questioned why they were inside a house and not outside.

‘Pretty sure under Australian laws you can’t export them privately so this is pretty messed up,’ one follower wrote.

Another added: ‘Seeing our native fauna being treated like a toy and wearing a nappy is also messed up.’

Someone else wrote: ‘I absolutely hate it. Obviously not anything to do with Kate but it upsets me so much to see things like wallabies and sugar gliders as pets when it’s illegal here.’

However, several fans guessed the animals could be ‘rescues’ from a local kangaroo farm, being cared for by rehabilitation services.

‘Could be rescues from illegal wildlife trade or bred in captivity,’ one wrote.
