Katy Perry reveals her battle with cystic adult acne and the one Kora Organics product she swears

Katy Perry joined Miranda Kerr for an in-depth Instagram live chat on Tuesday, to talk about the one product from the Australian model’s successful Kora Organics beauty line that has ‘changed her skin game’.

American singer Katy, 36, candidly revealed her battle with adult cystic acne, but said that Miranda’s hero Turmeric Glow moisturiser has completely transformed her complexion.

Katy, who is now engaged and has a baby with Miranda’s ex-husband Orlando Bloom, declared at the beginning of the chat that she was wearing very little makeup besides from a little under eye concealer and was proud that her skin had such a glow.

‘This is me very fresh faced and with little to no makeup, literally maybe just a little under eye right here,’ the California Gurls songstress said. 

‘I wanted to show off my skin because remember we had a conversation, so one of the great things about being close with Miranda is that I get to try out all her products,’ she added.

‘You gave me this new moisturiser. As you know you and I get sent a lot of different things and products and we try some of them and we don’t and I thought I will just try it, I’m not getting any younger. It has changed my skin game so much.’

What’s in the product? 

-The Turmeric Glow moisturiser contains a blend of turmeric extract, rosehip, marine micro algae and other ingredients to combat hyperpigmentation and skin ageing 

-Consumers are also helping the environment with the product and are able to purchase refill pods once the first jar is empty 

-It’s said to ‘hydrate and brighten’ the skin 

‘Orlando [Bloom] uses it too and we kind of fight over the pods,’ she added. 

Katy said that due to her struggles with adult acne, she has always been cautious of the creams and products she puts on her skin, but loves Miranda’s Turmeric Glow Moisturiser ($78AUD)

‘I had adult acne in the past…Cystic zits,’ the hitmaker said. 

‘I would get them from oil on my skin and getting too much oil, I was a little scared of heavy moisturisers on my skin… I was nervous to try it.

‘But my cheeks are always rosy after I use it and I’m not scared of it, it doesn’t make me break out at all.’ 

Katy revealed that she uses the cream both morning and night, and never primes when doing her makeup anymore. 

But she said the product makes her makeup more smooth and less dry-looking on her face, especially for her commitments on American Idol. 

Miranda, who launched Kora Organics in 2009 and who has just released her new Milky Mushroom Gentle Cleansing Oil ($54AUD), said she was happy to hear that Katy has had such good results using the moisturiser.

‘I went back and forth with our lab and chemist,’ Miranda said. 

‘It took me two years to develop this, I wanted it to be super rich and luxurious but not cause any breakouts,’ she said.

The pair also revealed in their chat that Miranda got Katy onto drinking celery juice. 

Katy is engaged to Miranda’s ex-husband Orlando Bloom, 44. Katy and Orlando just welcomed their first child together, Daisy Dove.

Orlando and Miranda meanwhile share son Flynn, 10, together. 

Miranda is now married to Snapchat CEO and co-founder Evan Spiegel, 30, and they share two sons together, Hart, two, and Myles, one. 

Katy admitted that after having her first child, daughter Daisy, six months, she is cautious about what products she uses and what she eats and drinks. 

She said she now uses more natural products and has even ditched eating eggs in her household. 

‘I went into a huge transformation after having Daisy,’ Katy said. 

‘I started looking at all my products, my shampoo, conditioner, I went through a huge cleanout.’

She added: ‘We learned that all of the products available out there are unregulated from a health point of view [and could be] potentially carcinogenic in large doses.’
