Lisa Curry details mental health struggle in extremely vulnerable post following daughter’s death

Lisa Curry has detailed her ongoing grief process and mental health struggle almost three months on from losing daughter Jaimi Lee, who died in September.

In a heart-wrenching Instagram post on Monday, the Olympian was extremely vulnerable when it came to explaining her intense feelings.

‘Somehow, this change I find myself in now is testing my very being. Some days I don’t even feel like me anymore, or being me anymore,’ the 58-year-old wrote.

Lisa, who is also the mother to two other adult children, claimed she has refused to seek professional guidance and prefers to grieve in her own way.

‘People are telling me to seek out help.. with psychologists, doctors, people who have been through what I am facing at the moment … but I know in my heart, that I actually have the answers myself,’ she said.

Lisa acknowledges ‘birth, death and change’ and a few of life certainties, but she is finding navigating the ‘changes’ in her life since Jaimi Lee’s death the hardest to navigate and overcome.

‘Some change is out of your control leaving you empty and uncertain… and suddenly your whole world is turned upside down. Everything you once knew is now not as it was,’ she explained, adding that she now finds herself riddled with doubt, fear and uncertainty when faced with new situations.

‘I know change can be good. It’s a process… and I’m not quite sure where to start, but soon I ll figure it out,’ Lisa told fans.

Last week, a grieving Lisa came up with a touching way to remember her late daughter, Jaimi Lee.

In a post on Instagram on, the former Olympic swimmer revealed she had planted four garden beds so there’d be flowers all year round.

‘Jaimi loved her flowers so we’re building a beautiful garden for her. It has 4 garden beds around it, one for each season… so there’ll always be flowers,’ she wrote.

Lisa shared a photo of herself planting flowers in one of the garden beds while putting on a brave smile for the camera.

She revealed her husband of two years, entertainer Mark Andrew Tabone, had constructed the garden box for her.

‘My talented hubby is great with a hammer @mark66andrew. Thank you,’ she added.

Lisa announced Jaimi’s death at age 33 in an emotional post on Instagram on September 15.

‘Our hearts are completely broken. Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning with her loving family by her side,’ she wrote at the time.

She added: ‘Our hearts are broken and the pain is unbearable but we cherish every wonderful moment we got to share with our treasured and so loved first child.’

It was later reported by The Daily Telegraph that Jaimi had battled with alcoholism and an eating disorder before her death in a Sunshine Coast hospital.

In a post on Instagram last week, Lisa confessed she was still grappling to come to terms with her daughter’s death.

‘It still doesn’t seem real. It still feels like Jaimi will come home. She always did,’ she wrote.
