In Wahlberg’s shirtless photo from three weeks ago, he could be seen displaying his muscular figure at the gym.

The second snap, taken after he purposely packed on the pounds, captured him laying in bed, looking visibly heavier without his washboard abs.

Talking about his plans to gain weight for the role, the Boogie Nights star said he wanted to ‘eat everything in sight’ after being on a strict food regimen ‘for so long.’

‘I want to go bakeries. I want to go to Denny’s. I want to get pancakes. I want to get everything I can possibly get my hands on,’ he told Kimmel.

It is a far cry from the star’s usual keep fit regime.

In 2018, Wahlberg shocked his followers when he revealed his carefully regimented schedule.

He claimed that his ‘typical’ day began with him waking up at 2:30 am, followed by ‘prayer time’ 15 minutes later.

His 3:15am breakfast was followed by a workout last from 3:40 to 5:15 in the morning, which he followed up with a ‘post-workout meal’ and a shower.

The Boogie Nights star was golfing by 7:30 and using a cryo chamber for recovery at 9:30, with a short break for a snack between

Much of the later morning into the afternoon and evening were devoted to his work, whether it was related to his Hollywood career or his business investments, like his Wahlburgers restaurant chain.

His family got two blocks of four hours total devoted to them, though one of the spots on the schedule was also shared with ‘meetings’ and ‘work calls.’

Some social media fans wondered if the schedule posted to Wahlberg’s Insta Stories was accurate, given its unforgiving schedule and lack of much downtime.

The role in Father Stu will be something of a return to form for Wahlberg, who scored a Best Picture nomination as a producer in 2010 for the David O. Russell film The Fighter.

Mark portrayed the titular character, boxer Micky Ward, in the movie.

Father Stu is a faith-based biopic loosely based on the late Father Stuart Long, who started off his career as a boxer and eventually became a priest.

The movie, which has been said to be close to Wahlberg’s heart for a number of years, was written and is directed by Gibson’s girlfriend Rosalind Ross.
