  • Saskia also posted a picture of the legendary actor’s local golf club Lyford Cay Club, beside his home in Nassau Bahamas
  • Sir Sean’s grandson Dashiell, who is following in his footsteps by becoming an actor, posted up a pic of Connery saying ‘Great man’ 
  • It was announced on Saturday that Connery died in his sleep at his home in the Bahamas after being diagnosed with dementia in the later years of his life 

Sir Sean Connery’s granddaughter has paid tribute to him by sharing some previously unseen pictures of the star after his death at age 90.

Saskia Connery, 24, shared an emotional message to her social media followers following the James Bond star’s passing, calling him her ‘best friend’.  

She wrote: ‘A surreal goodbye to my best friend, mentor and dear grandfather. Please respect my families privacy while we process this news.

Saskia also showed off an old picture of Connery with his top off pulling a funny face to the camera.

She posted a picture of the legendary actor’s local golf club Lyford Cay Club, beside his home in Nassau Bahamas.

Sharing a photo of the flag at half mast, Saskia penned: ‘Half mast and forever missed.’

Sir Sean’s grandson Dashiell, who is following in his footsteps by becoming an actor, posted up a pic of Connery saying ‘Great man’ and also thanked well wishers for the messages.

He said in an emotional video message: ‘Hey everybody thanks for all the love and support and well wishes. I really do appreciate it. Thank you.’

Meanwhile, outside Connery’s well loved Caledonian hotel in Edinburgh, a well wisher left a bouquet of flowers.

Connery was the first person to ever play Bond, starring in a total of seven films between 1962 and 1983. 

Fellow 007 actors Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan were among those who paid tribute to the star after his passing.  

Craig shared a statement on the franchise’s Twitter and wrote: ‘It is with such sadness that I heard of the passing of one of the true greats of cinema. 

‘Sir Sean Connery will be remembered as Bond and so much more. He defined an era and a style.

‘The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in mega watts; he helped create the modern blockbuster.

‘He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Wherever he is, I hope there is a golf course.’

Meanwhile, Pierce wrote: ‘Sir Sean Connery, you were my greatest James Bond as a boy, and as a man who became James Bond himself. You cast a long shadow of cinematic splendour that will live on forever.

Pierce was the fifth actor to depict the secret agent and starred in four films between 1995 and 2002.
