Strictly’s Johannes Radebe shares behind-the-scenes snaps from first pro drag dance as he thanks Giovanni Pernice and Gorka Marquez for being ‘fierce enough to strut their stuff’

Johannes Radebe has shared behind-the-scenes snaps from the professionals’ Priscilla, Queen of the Desert themed dance on Saturday night.

The South African dancer, 33, took to Instagram on Sunday to thank fans for their positive comments on the performance, which saw him, Giovanni Pernice, and Gorka Marquez get in drag.

Posting a snap of himself smiling with Giovanni in their plunging tasselled outfits  and intricate head pieces, as well as a close-up of Gorka’s sparkling beard, dark red lipstick, and silver eyeshadow.

In the post, he wrote: ‘I work with a fab bunch of people but I wanted to shout-out to these two for shamelessly putting the motion in every single part, fierce enough to strut their stuff…

‘We appreciate you @gorka_marquez & @giovannipernice1 and as for partner @aljazskorjanec thank you darling.’

Gorka and Giovanni also shared a closer look at their make-up and colourful outfits, as the former declared his drag name was ‘Miss G’ and the Italian dancer named himself Taramisu.

Johannes also shared a video he was sent of judge Motsi Mabuse as she watched their performance, and she could be heard singling along to the music and cheering the trio on.

The performer joked in the caption: ‘I gather this was most people last night @motsimabuse and as for the feedback,THANK YOU

‘I’m thrilled that many appreciate our Musicals tribute @billdeamer and Kylie a job well done creating such a joyous debut of Priscilla’, it will go down in strictly HERSTORY.’

The professionals delighted fans when they got into drag to embody the queens from the classic 1994 musical on Saturday, which saw them transform into sparkling divas for the show’s first ever pro dance featuring men in drag.

Sporting rainbow fans, Johannes dressed in a plunging silver top and trousers, while Gorka and Giovanni wore matching blue and red ensembles. 

The trio also wore floral head pieces that covered their locks as they glided along hte dance floor to the upbeat number.

But adding another glamorous flair, their fellow professionals pulled their trousers off to reveal their outfits also doubled up as dresses.

Johannes, Giovanni, and Gorka also stepped out on the ballroom floor in black ankle boots that accentuated their legs as they showed off their moves.

The trio were then joined by their other male professionals, as they began a couple’s dance on the ballroom floor.

 Fans were delighted by the show’s opening number, calling it ‘superb’ and one of the best opening numbers the show has ever had.
