Kazuo Ishiguro’s first novel since he won the Nobel Prize in 2017 returns to the sci-fi territory of 2005’s Never Let Me Go.
There has been a vogue for autobiographical fiction in recent years, fuelled by the hoo-ha over Karl Ove Knausgaard’s My Struggle, drawn in minute detail from the author’s own life.
In his acclaimed first novel, Sal, Kitson told the heart-rending survivalist tale of two young girls hiding out in rural Scotland to escape a harrowing home life.
