The Killers postpone ticket sales of their Australian tour due to COVID-19

‘Our hearts go out to those affected’: The Killers postpone ticket sales of their Australian tour due to the coronavirus outbreak

The Killers announced they would be touring Australia in November just last Friday.

But on Tuesday, the ‘Mr Brightside’ hitmakers announced they would postpone ticket sales for their Australian tour amid growing concerns about the deadly coronavirus.

‘Tickets for our late summer/fall shows will not be going on sale just yet,’ the Las Vegas rock band wrote on Instagram.

‘The news is changing every hour around Coronavirus and, ultimately, we want you, our fans, to stay focused on prevention and remaining safe and cautious right now.’

Although the American rock band referred to Summer and Fall, this translates to Winter and Spring in the Southern Hemisphere.

Tickets to The Killers’ Australian shows are no longer available on Ticketek, which says ‘the event is either over, or is no longer on sale’.

The band also announced that they will be raising money for people who work in the services industry with their ticket sales, whenever they go on sale.

‘Once we go on sale, we will be providing a portion of our ticketing income to local organisations who help people whose service industry jobs are impacted by the coronavirus in each of our cities,’ they wrote.

‘We are taking this personally. Both we and our families have had these jobs and our hearts go out to those affected.’

The tour is to support their upcoming album, Imploding the Mirage, and released the their first single for the album, Caution, last week.

The last time the band travelled to Australia was in 2018, where they performed at 10 sold-out shows around the country.
